Hey Danceworx,
First, let me say how proud I am of all you and what you’re doing. I’m Vash and back in [1980s] after coming from UC Irvine where I was majoring in Dance and Drama, I transferred to Cal. I auditioned for the Berkeley Dance company. I danced CIRCLES around those kids, but because I hadn’t been in their dance classes, I was completely overlooked.
Frustrated, I decided to start my own dance troop. …one that would do two environmentally based concerts choreographed and danced by any student that had an interest and aptitude. I filled out the necessary student organization paperwork and Danceworx was born. I dreamt that one day we’d be doing our concerts in theaters and our dancers would go on to dance and tour with some of the biggest names in dance. Seeing you all carrying on the dream and the vision is an amazing feeling.
I thank you from the depths of my soul for all that you continue to feed into the Danceworx legacy. If you have any interest in seeing and/or incorporating some of the past in your present of future, please let me know. We used to record our concerts and I’m sure I can find a way to get you digital copies for you to check out. The dreamer in me think it would be amazing if one day you guys performed some of the old works. I think they would look amazing on your dancers.
Regardless, know I continue to send you Danceworx love for all the worn out shoot, shin splints, skinned knees and last minute choreography changes before the music starts and the audiences in Lower Sproul go wild having experienced the magic of Danceworx.
Warmest Regards,
Vash Boddie
